Some cultures tattoo, brand, pierce or otherwise intentionally scar their children. Horrifying? Well, those same cultures would be equally horrified to know we leave our children with strangers for eight hours a day.
At least their rituals invoke ancient lineage, display bravery and attract potential mates. Our ritual allows us to lease two vehicles, pay a mortgage on an exorbitantly priced house and otherwise continue to claw our way out of debt. You know... really important stuff.
Daycare started today. It wasn't a good day.

The daycare bit does get easier I promise. (Although I'm afraid it'll be just as hard to leave Zach there as it was at first w/ Emily.) In fact, there may even come a time when you go to pick up Zoe, and she looks at you...and runs the other way. Not because she's not happy to see you, but because she's just having such a darned good time that she doesn't want to go home. While comforting to know she really does enjoy her day away from mom and dad... it's equally as heartbreaking.
