Honey Attracts Hummingbirds?

Over Labor Day, we spent a good amount of time watching Mom's crazy hummingbirds. She has swarms of them come in at once. They zoom right by your head and don't seem to care that much about the activity that goes on in my parent's backyard (once they get to know you). Here she is 'hand-feeding' one. They actually come up to her back-door windows and scold her when the feeders are empty.
