Honey Shirt

I recently picked up this shirt for Zoe. She calls it her Honey and Papa shirt.

It says 'sweet as honey.' The first time I read it to her and she heard the word honey (the name she calls my mother) she added and Papa. In her mind honey is a person... not food. And where there's Honey, there's Papa.

The shirt isn't the only thing that causes confusion. There's a Winnie the Pooh book about counting honey pots that is a favorite right now. She brings it to me and says, "Read Honey and Papa book." Then there's all the times I yell, "Honey, could you come help me?" through the house. She must wonder why I'm calling her daddy what is essentially 'grandma' in her mind. Wait until I tell her there's an actual food item called honey too. She's going to be completely perplexed.

Actually, my mother always wanted the grandchildren to call her HoneyGram. Her grandmother was BessyGram, but SammyGram didn't really work. She decided to use part of her last name instead of her first. The first grandchild, Michael, quickly shortened it to Honey and now she is called Honey by pretty much every kid under 21 (the age of the oldest grandchild) in our small community. Imagine how funny that is to an outsider when some 20 year-old kid comes up to her and says, "Hi, Honey!" I'm sure there's been a few arched eyebrows and puzzled exchanges after hearing that.

By the way, Honey and Papa are currently on their way back from a very long trip to Mexico. They actually drove there (I know...they're crazy). Now that they are heading home we want to wish them a very safe and uneventful trip. Hurry back. We miss you terribly!

Take care.

I've been lobbying for the use of "Big Sexy" for quite some time. It never sticks.

Sincerely,
