OUR LITTLE POLLOCK (as in Jackson... not Gdansk)

Perhaps inspired by our recent trip to the Art Fairs, Zoe brought home her first solely-independent artwork from school today. It now hangs proudly on our big, white, magnetic easel in the kitchen.

Sure, there's been other stuff. But we're pretty sure she didn't set that hand print in plaster of paris herself. Nor do we believe she cut out those dozen footprints and rolled them into mock roses for Mother's Day. This, however, is a Zoe Olivia original.

I find it straddles a fine line between trompe l'oeil and rococo styles, don't you?

(O.K., so it's really not trompe l'oiel, and I don't remember what rococo is. But those were the words I most remember from art appreciation class, mainly because they were fun to say. Much more fun than 'abstract expressionism,' which I think this would truly fall under.)

Excellent use of color and spacing. I give the little artist an A+.
